Topic #5: I Cannot Live without...

What is your most indispensable item?  Why?  What do you think would happen if you were to lose this item?  Did someone give it to you?

Topic #4: Which Language?

If you could be instantly fluent in another language (besides English), which would you choose and why?  I know many of you would probably want to select English, but since this is a language you are currently learning, I would like you to select another language.  Which language would that be? More importantly, why did you select that language?

Topic #3:Money, Power, or Fame?

For this week, I would like to know which of the three mentioned in the title above is LEAST important to you.  Is it money?  Power?  Fame?  Which is least important?  More importantly, why is this the least important to you?

Topic #2: The Strangest Thing

As I have mentioned on several occasions in class, I love to eat!  There are only a few things that I cannot eat, and that is simply because I am allergic to them.  However, there are some items that I do not like to eat mainly because I do not like the taste of them.  Overall, I do not consider myself to be a selective or picky eater.  How about all of you?  

Now, my main question for this week is, "What is the strangest thing you have ever eaten?"  Although some people enjoy eating, they do not like being overly adventurous in food they consume.  They like to "stick to the safe stuff."  I, on the other hand, enjoy trying new things.  Although I do not think I have tried a bunch of strange food, I would have to say that the strangest food I have ever tried is alligator meat.  Did I like it?  Yes!!  I actually really liked it!  It is something that I did not have an allergic reaction to and would love to eat again.  How about you?  What is the strangest thing you have ever eaten??

Topic #1: Who Are You?

As I mentioned in my welcome post, I really hope I get to know more about all of you throughout the semester.  To help us get started, you all will be working on your first blog entry today!  Tell us a little bit about yourself.  Who are you?  What interests you?  Why did you decide to come to Cal State Fullerton to study English?  What excites you?  What makes you sad?  Sharing anything about yourself will be welcomed!

I will share a little about myself.  My name is May Youn Kim, and though I was born in Seoul, Korea, I came to the United States when I was 4 years old.  Ever since coming to the United States, I have always lived in Southern California.  I have been married for a little over 3 years, and this April, we will be welcoming our first baby to our family.  Yay!  As you can imagine, my husband and I are extremely excited and a bit nervous.  As I shared during the class introduction, I LOVE to eat!  Hence, I make references to food very often during my teaching.

This is just a brief introduction of myself; however, I am more than happy to share anything else about myself that you may be interested in.  Therefore, do not be shy and ask me anything any time!  However!  The two questions I will NEVER answer are, "How old are you?" and "How much do you weight?"  Haha!  I will NEVER answer those questions. :)  Thank you for reading all this!

Welcome to Spring 2013!

Hello everyone!  I am so excited to have you all in my class this semester.  I really look forward to getting to know each of you better throughout this semester.  I know that writing can at times be frustrating and stressful, but I hope we will be able to make this class exciting and fun.  With that said, let the semester begin!!
